Dr. David Ellis is the president of D.W. Ellis & Associates Ltd. Dr. Ellis has 33 years of experience in the oil, gas and chemical industries, manufacturing, mining and service organizations. All this time has been working with the Management Sciences including statistics and other subjects associates with Quality Management. His experience with computers was in 1963 and his first employment was with Imperial Oil Limited in 1968 in a management science group. There he worked on projects throughout Canada and, through an Exxon group, on projects elsewhere in the world. He has been working with linear programming and simulation modeling since 1968.
This consulting practice was started in 1979.
Dr. Ellis' working experience includes operating experience, clerical functions, computer systems, financial and operations modeling, supervisor, manager, project manager, consultant, strategic planning, in house course leader, advisor to management, facilitator in the field, facilitator in the boardroom, and lecturer at universities.
Dr. Ellis offers courses in simulation modeling and statistical awareness.
Dr. Ellis has been on the executive of many national associations and is currently a member of the Canadian Operational Research Society and INFORMS. In addition to speaking at many association meetings (CORS, INFORMS, Canadian Institute for Mining, conducted courses at U of A, quest lectured at U of A courses), he has judged management science papers, he has published papers in refereed journals. He was on the executive of the Toronto section of CORS and was the founding president of the Edmonton section of CORS. He was on the organizing committee for CORS conferences in Toronto, Calgary, and Edmonton.
